Personal Profile
Dr. Jhiamluka Solano's journey in medicine is marked by perseverance, academic excellence, and a dedication to both clinical practice and medical education. Born and educated initially in Honduras, he completed his medical degree (MD) at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH). Seeking further specialization and professional development, he moved to the United Kingdom to pursue postgraduate training. This move began a challenging yet rewarding phase of his career.
In the UK, Dr Solano undertook rigorous training in Internal Medicine and is currently specializing in Cardiology. He became a Specialist Registrar (SpR) in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery. His commitment to excellence is reflected in his attainment of membership in the Royal Colleges of Physicians (MRCP) in London.
Parallel to his clinical endeavours, Dr Solano has significantly contributed to medical education. He earned a Master's in Medical Education (MSc Med Ed) from the University of South Wales in 2022 and became a Council Member of the Academy of Medical Educators in 2024. His dedication to improving medical education extends beyond the UK; he founded the Honduran Medical Education Association (AEMH) to enhance the quality of medical training in his home country.
Throughout his career, Dr. Solano has faced and overcome numerous challenges, particularly those related to adapting to a new healthcare system and training environment. These experiences inspired him to create "A Doctor's Journey," a platform designed to support and guide other international medical graduates navigating similar paths. Through this platform, he shares valuable insights, resources, and personal experiences to help others achieve their goals in the medical field.
